Why you should definitely not leave your charger plugged in
Many people have the habit of simply unplugging their phone after they’re done charging it, but leaving the charger plugged in. At first glance, this seems harmless – a “little box” that doesn’t take up any space and is ready whenever we need it. But the truth is, this habit can be dangerous for both your device and your safety.
1. Constant electricity consumption
Even when it’s not charging a phone, the charger continues to consume electricity. The current is low, but if the charger is left on 24/7, the monthly electricity bill increases. It’s a “silent consumer” that drains resources without us realizing it.
2. Overheating and fire risk
Most chargers generate heat while plugged in. If they are left plugged in for extended periods of time, especially in high-temperature rooms or near flammable materials, the risk of overheating and fire increases. Cases of burnt contacts and even fires caused by chargers are not a myth, but a reality.
3. Shortening the life of the charger
Constantly plugging in the charger reduces its lifespan. Its electronic components are stressed, and with frequent voltage fluctuations – as occurs in many households – it can burn out or damage the phone the next time it is charged.
