The Process: Cooking with a Smile
I started by slicing the avocado carefully, making sure each piece was smooth and perfect. Then came the cherry tomatoes, cut in halves so their bright, juicy insides could shine through. Cucumbers added a crunchy sound as the knife moved through them, and the lettuce gave volume and life to the plate.
I couldn’t help but smile as I prepared each ingredient. Cooking in that moment felt different—it wasn’t about recipes or technique. It was about slowing down, being mindful, and knowing that each cut, each mix, each choice was for the woman I now call my wife.
The Moment of Sharing 💕
When she finally woke up and walked into the kitchen, still sleepy from yesterday’s celebration, her eyes widened as she saw the table. The bowls were filled with fresh, vibrant salad, and the room carried the scent of lemon and olive oil.
“Did you… make this for me?” she asked with a smile.
And in that moment, I realized something important: it wasn’t about how perfect the salad looked or whether it could compete with a restaurant dish. It was about the surprise, the thought, the effort. It was about showing her, on our very first morning as a married couple, that I will always try to bring joy to her life in little ways.
