A new wave of Covid-19 – the peak is expected at the end of September, the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases (NCID) announced. The number of infected people is increasing by 30% on a weekly basis and will double.

Lege Artis talks to Prof. Todor Kantardzhiev, epidemiologist and former director of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

According to Kantardzhiev, currently, the number of cases of Covid-19 infection is 128 – 7 more than last week. Since the beginning of the year, 810 cases have been registered, which is 10 times less than the number of infections for the same period last year.

“On September 5, an analysis by the European Center for Disease Control in Stockholm was released. Compared to last year, there are neither more cases in emergency rooms nor more deaths. The situation is not as dangerous as it is being presented,” says Prof. Kantardzhiev.
