Ingredients Youāll Need
To make chocolate salami, youāll need the following ingredients:
- 200g of dark chocolate (or milk chocolate, depending on your preference)
- 100g of unsalted butter
- 100g of sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 300g of digestive biscuits (or any hard biscuits)
- 50g of nuts (such as walnuts or hazelnuts, optional)
- Powdered sugar or cocoa powder for dusting
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Melt the Chocolate
In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and butter. Melt them together using a microwave in short intervals or over a double boiler, stirring until smooth. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.
Step 2: Mix the Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar and eggs until well combined. Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture, stirring until smooth.
Step 3: Add the Biscuits and Nuts
Crush the digestive biscuits into small pieces (but not too fine!) and add them to the chocolate mixture. If youāre using nuts, chop them roughly and add them as well. Fold everything together until the biscuits are well coated.
Step 4: Shape the Salami
Lay a large piece of plastic wrap on the counter. Spoon the chocolate mixture onto the center of the wrap, shaping it into a log. Use the plastic wrap to help form a tight roll, twisting the ends to secure it.
Step 5: Chill
Place the wrapped chocolate salami in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or until firm. For best results, leave it overnight.
Step 6: Slice and Serve
Once the salami is firm, remove it from the fridge and unwrap it. Dust the log with powdered sugar or cocoa powder before slicing it into rounds. Serve on a platter and enjoy!
